Cut Drug Financial Drain 80 to 100%
This is PAGE TWO, Part two on saving from Over the Counter Drugs
Research to 4-8-08 My Conclusions Harlan Jacobsen-Copyright © 2008
Prilosec is an example of a drug that recently became available OTC at a
much lower cost.
Also now available to buy lower strength with no added expense in time
and money normally required with your doctor are Motrin, Zantac, and
Pepcid. All of these examples of medication available in both
prescription and OTC strengths.
Then the former prescription, then generic drugs, and now full OTC such
as our example of Claritan, (see article)
formerly costing around
$1200
a year as a prescription drug, now over
the counter Generic for under $40
a year.
If you are on a prescription
for allergies you may want to follow our research suggestions (such as
the consumer reports web site etc) on finding whether OTC Claritan etc
may be rated as effective or more effective then what you are now paying
top prescription dollar for.
It so inexpensive now you can certainly
give it a try or test compared to what you are prescribed, compare, for
results.
Walmart new competitive drug discount program has moved many OTC
drugs, (over 1000) some formerly costing around $28
for example, now
moved over to the $4
category. Some vitamins also often prescribed or
suggested for pregnant women, hormones etc have been switched for big
savings.
You need to compare lists of the new participants in this competitive$10 for 90 days, or $4 for 30, (some prescription drugs your doctor will
not give you a 90 day prescription.) Most will have a similar list but
you may find your drug on Target list but not on Walmart, or the other
way around. Now we have in addition to Target, new to the scene,
Giant, Kroger, HyVee, Safeway, Osco, and many local area pharmacy
participants.
These Generic drugs on these discount programs can save you a tremendous
amount of money... see our example
on the most common (and most effective) drug for diabetics is $600
plus
yearly on
the patented version, usually the most prescribed and only $40.00
a year
on the Generic version
and these discount programs, Walmart, Target,
Safeway, etc.
All will offer you a list of affected drugs included in their discount
program, if you ask for it or research it on the web.
The price is identical, so convenience and availability of all your
drugs at the same location is important.
Some suggest you buy all of your drugs from one pharmacy so your
pharmacist can see what combinations of drugs you may be taking with a
list that combination might be dangerous.
Next, we have coverage here for you of drug programs that can save you
100% or nearly 100% on drugs.
One example, if you are a qualified Vet, and low income or disabled, your VA pharmacist will supply drugs for FREE.
If you are a Vet and get a prescription,
and regardless of income, the VA pharmacist will fill it for
$2
.
